Ximeno presents Derrick Harriott – “Let It Whip” / Susan Cadogan – “Juicy Fruit” 7″ is a limited run of 200 45s released on July 4th, 2012, these records include extremely rare Reggae tunes. ”Let It Whip” is a serious groove cover of the Dazz Band classic, and the B-side contains a cover of the Mtume classic. The sweet vocals give this classic new life as a Reggae tune.
Done out of love, and mostly done to bring attention to artists and showcase tracks that have been overlooked, this is the 2nd 45 release under the Ximeno name. The first was the The Black Souls – “Reggae Rock” / Louise Arthur – “Ackee Beat” 7″, that was limited to 100 pressings, and sold out immediately. The majority of the records were bought up by record stores in Japan, where it had a run as the top seller for a couple weeks during the summer of 2011.
There will be a free record release party on Friday, July 6th 2012 at Naya in Silverlake. Details below. A lot of LA heavyweight and Beat Swap Meet DJs friends and fam will be in the mix, it should be a great time. Come through!
